Born into a family in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rishi grew up with firsthand exposure to grit and resilience. His father’s determination became a guiding anchor for him, and early on Rishi internalised the conviction that one could build something meaningful and lasting.
While he gained admittance into the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology and embarked on an engineering path, it wasn’t long before the corporate trajectory began to feel limiting. In his second year, Rishi immersed himself in helping an uncle set up a floriculture business, driving research, operations and design, as he discovered that his curiosity lay not in being employed but in creating.
After graduating and securing placement, Rishi found himself unable to reconcile the pace of his inner ambitions with the structured corporate lanes. He made the bold decision to quit his job without informing his parents. The family believed he was home on a brief break, and only when weeks elapsed did his father approach him. What could have been a moment of friction turned into one of support. His father extended not only his faith but also financial backing from his provident fund savings. This support became the bedrock of Rishi’s entrepreneurial journey.
In 1999, at just 24 years old, Rishi co-founded CareerNet in partnership with his brother. The company grew into one of India’s largest recruitment firms, serving multiple industries and handling talent acquisition at scale.
However, the very growth that defined CareerNet also exposed a recurrent pain point. As the business expanded, the need for fresh office space every couple of years became a logistical burden. Rishi envisioned a scalable workspace model that could flex with business needs, giving birth to IndiQube in 2013 alongside co-founder Meghna Agarwal.
Under Rishi’s leadership, IndiQube redefined flexible workspaces in India with high-speed connectivity, meeting rooms, café lounges, parking facilities and a service-enabled environment offering more than just a desk.
